Dr. Richard Caputo

Dr. Richard Caputo

Dr. Richard Caputo grew up in the Dearborn area and decided to become a Veterinarian at the age of 14. It was an illness and death from a contagious disease of the family dog that inspired him to devote the rest of his life to preventing and treating domestic animal diseases. He attended Michigan State University and earned a bachelor degree in Zoology and was fortunate to be accepted to MSU School of Veterinary Medicine. In 1972, a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree was achieved and board exams were passed. After getting very valuable experience working at Burns Animal Hospital in Dearborn, Dr. Caputo decided to venture out on his own, and then Caputo Animal Hospital was established in 1978. After nearly 40 years of ownership, Dr. Caputo decided to turn the management over to Midwest Veterinary Partners (MVP) but continues to do what always wanted to do-practice Veterinary medicine at Caputo Animal Hospital with no plan to retire.

In his spare time, he enjoys hitting the golf course, spending time in Traverse City and traveling. He has been married for 45 years to Susan Caputo and has 2 children and 4 adoring grandchildren.
